Case Study Details
Weight Loss Surgery - Tracking SEO Changes
We decided to add a client to the case studies immediately when we started work on their website. The idea was to show how long it takes, for this existing website, to appear on page one for top search phrases. Top search phrases would include New Jersey in combination with "lap band nj", "gastric bypass nj", "weight loss surgery nj", etc.
Google Ranking Results
The NJ Bariatric Center wanted to come up in organic search for New Jersey and New York based queries for topics surrounding weight loss surgery for people who are morbidly obese. These are the only candidates currently for weight loss surgery methods.
They also wanted to advertise their great success and zero mortality for the services they offer.
We have documented search results for nine sample phrases on August 28, 2007 . These are example search phrases that the company believes potential patients would use to find a weight loss surgeon in New Jersey.
You will notice that the existing website design is not showing on Google Page One or Two organically for any of these phrases. The second area in yellow are measurements taken after we started our work.
The third set of measurements is for the new microsite that we created for the NJ Bariatric center on a new URL called: www.lapbandsurgerynj.com . In just under 30 days, this new website is appearing on Google Page 1 for "nj lap band" which was a key phrase for the company.

Project Summary
-
Company Information
The New Jersey Bariatric Center specializes in weight loss surgery and has two office locations; Union and Hoboken New Jersey.
Initial Website Analysis
The NJ Bariatric Center had an existing website in place when we first met. This case study is being first posted in August of 2007 at this time we signed a contract for SEO services.
The goal is to show the before an after results of our work, from the very start of the project. The first review of their website indicated that proper SEO META tags were missing. The website had ample content, but their internal linking strategy needed to be strengthened.
-
Scope of Work
We were asked to update all the existing pages with proper page titles and META tags. This work was started on August 25, 2007. The before and after results will be shown on the right.
The second part of the project will be to create external links to the website,. This will be started in September 2007. This article, in fact creates a good external link to the website since the content contained on this page discusses his industry and uses keywords in his field of practice.
The third part of this project will be to create a second microsite for the business, placed on a very powerful URL. This microsite will go live in September 2007 and we will post the progress of this site.

Summary
This new client is a perfect example of an HTML website that has good content but due to lack of knowledge about search engine marketing, the site was invisible to organic search. Since the site had good content in place and since the site has been up for many months, are work will be made easier.
This project will demonstrate that organic result engine results can start in a soon as one month after a site is published. This of course is based on the other proprietary steps we take when building a site design for search engine marketing. All new website are NOT created equal.
First Steps
The first microsite we created was placed at: www.lapbandsurgerynj.com and we are working to complete the site by the end of September 2007.
